Independent Reading Assignment vs. Free Reads

Both Free Reads and Independent Reading assignments allow students to read a text outside of Readlee into the platform to collect the recording, Words per Minute, total time read and more.

The difference between Free Reads and an Independent Reading assignment is who initiates the assignment. Free Reads are initiated by the student with no prep required from the teacher while independent reading assignments are created by the teacher and assigned to the students. Both collect a recording and data of the recording to hear and assess student reading practice.
